Dai-ichi Karkaria commenced production in 1963, in technical collaboration with the renowned Dai-ichi Kogyo Seiyaku Co. Ltd., based in Japan. Over the years we have built a reputation on innovation & quality, supporting the highest standards of integrity and social responsibility to our employees and the environment around us.

OUR PLANTS

PUNE PLANT

  • Multipurpose plant designed to allow high degree of flexibility essential to meet varied and stringent needs of customers.
  • Equipped with stainless steel and glass lined reactors of varying capacities from 100 litres to 16,000 litres.
  • Capable of carrying out reactions at temperatures from 0-260 C and pressures from 4 mm Hg-8 Kg /sq.cm.

KURKUMBH PLANT

  • Equipped with specially designed photo polymerization belt reactor to manufacture non-ionic, anionic, cationic & amphoteric polyelectrolytes for use as flocculants and dewatering applications.

DAHEJ PLANT

  • Under construction. Completion date 2017.

OUR MILESTONES

1963
Commercial production commenced at Kasarwadi Plant in technical collaboration with Dai-ichi Kogyo Seiyaku of Japan.
1967
Developed the first demulsifier in the country, used to start the Oil & Natural Gas Commission’s Demulsification Plant.
1973
Received Certificate of Merit from the Industrial Research Development Corporation for import substitution work.
1980
Developed the first Pour Point Depressant (PPD) in the country at the request of the Oil & Natural Gas Commission for Bombay High.
1981
Technical collaboration with Matsumoto Yushi-Seiyaku Co. Ltd. of Japan for sizing agents for Polyester Filament Yarn & Spin Finishes.
1984
Won an award from the Indian Merchants Chamber for original research in the development of Pour Point Depressant (PPD). Starts supply of Oilfield chemicals to ONGC.
1991
Established a joint venture with Baker Petrolite for the manufacture of oilfield chemicals.
1992
Dai-ichi Karkaria Ltd. went public and was a listed company on BSE and NSF.
1995
Undertook expansion for Spin finishes at Kasarwadi. Invested in Flocculants Plant at Kurkumbh, near Pune. Setup a pharmaceutical facility at Hyderabad.
1996
Established a Formulation facility for the manufacture of various Maternal Health Care products. Pilot Plant is inaugurated by the Company’s Director, Prof. Sune Bergstrom, Nobel Laureate.
1998
Commenced the manufacture of various API’s at its Hyderabad facility.
2000
Tie up with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. for the sale of its Maternal Health Care Products in the country.
2001
Acquired ISO 9001 certification.
2005
DIK Pharma Unit at Hyderabad is transferred to the newly created joint venture company, Inogent, in collaboration with GVK Biosciences.
2008
Acquired 40% stake of Baker Production Services (UK) Ltd. in Basic Oil Treating (India) Ltd. {formerly known as Baker Oil Treating (India) Ltd.}, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.
2009
Signed MOU with Champion Technologies Inc., to work together in the indian oil field chemical service sector through a joint venture.
2010
Executed shareholders’ agreement with Champion Technologies Inc., to form a Joint Venture, viz. Champion Dai-ichi Technologies India Ltd.
2013
Ecolab Inc. acquired the parent company of Champion Technologies Inc., which is now known as Nalco Champion An Ecolab Company.
2014
Joint Venture with GVK Biosciences in Inogent stands concluded.
2015
Preliminary land development commences at Dahej.
2016
Environmental clearance received and construction of Dahej plant commences.
